Melbourne Tattoo Company works out of a top-floor space in Somerset Place, a laneway off Little Bourke Street in the centre of the city, reached by a flight of stairs to a loft-like studio.
Opened in 2013 by Matt and Zoe Wisdom, it has grown into a deep bench of resident artists spanning American traditional, Japanese, black and grey and fine line, so the shop covers both bold, classic work and quieter detail. It runs primarily by appointment after an initial consultation but gladly takes walk-ins when the schedule allows, leaning on that consultation to get a design right before the needle.
